Poems by JST: ‘I Don’t Want To Be Lonely, But I Will If I Have To’

I don’t want to be lonely, but I will if I have to

I don’t want to wait for someone to come change my fate,
To just hand me happiness on a silver plate
I don’t want to be alone and cry and moan,
When no queen comes to join my throne
I don’t believe that the only goal in life,
Is to search for years for just a wife
I don’t want to be looking for a partner for years,
A fool’s quest that might just end in tears

See no one really want so be alone,
Devoid of hope; how can solitary humans cope?
We seek comfort in each other’s embrace,
Knowing that we’ll always find a safe place
We wait for ages for a mate to appear,
Someone who you can always hold dear
But why must we strife and through stress, lose hair,
When someone might never be there

I don’t want to be lonely, but I will if I have to
I’ll brave the storms of life and cherish what I hold to be true
If my life ends and I have not found love
I won’t scream and curse the stars above

I don’t want to hope and believe, waiting around like a fool
Ignored and forgotten, left behind like a tool
I’ll shape my own destiny with my own hands
I’ll fight for my future and make my own plans

If I ever do find love and comfort with another
I’ll care for them and love them like no other
But if that fateful time never comes my way
I won’t die hoping, waiting for that day

I don’t want to be lonely, but I will if I have to
